His art is often a spontaneous explosion of Abstract Expressionism mixed with experimental subconscious creation. He lives in the City of Glasgow and often take inspiration from the hustle and bustle of city life. With a background in Mechanical Engineering and Architecture, Robert is interested in how the artistic and the technical may inform and invigorate each other, producing output that is new and different to both. In his work individual colours are defined as ‘genetic sequences’, realized digitally as a string of 1s and 0s. Over sized pixels, rastered onto the image plane, are used to record these colours as they are created. The work is arranged into series, each investigating a different combination of techniques, rendered for effect. They are titled by their ‘Unix timestamp’ – the exact time of creation recorded as the number of milliseconds since 00:00:00 UTC 1st January 1970. Click the picture to read the interview. Article written by Lisa Holmes Dean Moone, 40, born in Pinner, studied Craft Design and Technology, Technical Drawing and Art, but felt that he needed the economic security a trade could offer and successfully completed a City & Guilds qualification in bricklaying at Willesden Technical College. Dean continued producing artwork whilst holding down his everyday job, however two years ago he suffered a back injury in an industrial accident that has left him unable to continue with heavy, physical work. Through the generous support of family and friends, Dean has used the time since his accident to broaden and deepen his use of materials, methods and media. Dean paints using oil on canvas.
