Exhibiting Artists
Lisa Andrews
Lisa only returned to painting 18 months ago after a 13 year gap and she is therefore a totally new and emerging artist. She has already exhibited with a number of respected international artists, including Mark Demsteader and Paul Lemmon. Her work has been reviewed by the Daily Mirror Art critic Martin Newman and appeared in numerous magazines. She has also been chosen to be one of the Judges for New Artist Fair's Online Art Competition 2011-2012 (coming soon!).
Lisa says: “My love of travel and my inspiration in the diversity of humankind that has led me to cover a range of fascinating studies from the media fuelled obsession with celebrity culture, to the calm reflective nature of the Dalai Lama. I love to use oil paint as the fluidity of the paint merges and flows to mirror my energy and emotions. I paint people and in particular their faces, as I find this both the most challenging and enjoyable. I paint to help me remember how beautiful life is, and to help others feel the same” Website www.lisajandrews.com Links to Articles http://bit.ly/ksqN3R http://bit.ly/m02SKz http://bit.ly/mg8dmZ |
Charles A. Borrell
Chronos (Time), Hydor (Water), and Mneme (Memory) are integral components of my imagery. My visual language and inspiration are derived from the essence of changes and mood of the seas and skies and their intimate relationship with the horizon. Focusing on the memory of the image rather than the image itself, I explore the relationship of serenity, time and space, giving the viewer a glimpse into a world offering emotional solace.
Born at the foothills of Mount Pelion on the east coast of Greece, my work has assumed a fundamental association with the most formative memories of my childhood. 'As a child I would sit for hours breathing in the essence of the sea feasting my eyes on infinite horizons where mysteries and apprehensions, hope and beliefs would make my mind wonder, seeking the solace of a new beginning..." I relay my emotions and experiences onto canvas with a rhythmic and energetic yet serene and delicate manenr, exploring and experimenting with texture and media creating a contemporary and abstract representation of seascapes and endless horizons. Going beyond mere nostalgia, my paintings encourage the viewers to share the sentiment and theme of the painting while allowing them to create their own level of intimacy with the image according to their emotions and memories. Juliane Hundertmark
Juliane studied at the UDK Berlin and at the academy in Nürnberg. She describes herself as a "meisterschüler". After opening her own art gallery in Berlin, Germany for emerging artists, Juliane decided to show her work internationally.
The series of drawings she will be exhibiting at the New Artist Fair is about her fascination with imaginary animals and creatures. We see all these little creatures, dressed partly in costumes, that combine traits of both animals and men. Each animal has its own character but tries to capture and embody the transient emotions of the moment. Website: www.julianehundertmark.de |
Amy Wright
my Wright explores the use of colour and texture. Her work is emotive and reflective, and relies on the viewer to interpret what they will. She works mainly in Abstract Expressionism, influenced by life, the people around me and artists such as Hans Hoffman, Mark Rothko, and Philip Guston.
Amy has a particular fascination with the use of colour; the emotion and versatility of the colours used. Each piece of art that she creates is determined by the qualities and colours of the paint and the act of painting itself. Amy studied Arts Therapy at the University of Derby where she first began to really explore the use of oil paints. What was of particular interest were the textures that evolved as the piece took on its form. After a short hiatus starting in 1999, Amy returned to painting in 2003, inspired by living in Greenwich, London. She joined a network of artists at the Cor Blimey Art Studios in Deptford in 2005 and further continued her explorations into colour and texture. In 2006 Amy moved to San Francisco. Here she found great inspiration in the creative energy that throbs throughout the city. Amy had a studio in Russian Hill and became a part of the Artist Community, participating in a number of exhibitions that can be found on her events page. Since moving back to the UK in 2008, Amy found a new inspiration in the vibrancy of the London (Space Studios), using that energy to spur her creative juices and more recently, moved to the Kent Countryside, enjoying the more tranquil and breathtaking inspiration that has to offer. Nicola Berry
By day I run the rat race in the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf.
By night I become my true self and am able to show my true artistic flair through my art. I have always been creative, as a young girl I used to paint with my Grandad who was also an artist. We would spend hours in the front room painting together. I studied art at school and begin A-Level art, but at some point I lost my confidence and decided not to continue. I didn't paint for quite a few years, in fact not until my Grandad passed away, and then I picked up my paintbrush again in his memory. Some years have passed since then and it is only within the last year, due to some self-reflection, that I have really realised my true potential. I now cannot wait to get home from work to paint, I day dream about painting and I am inspired by my night dreams and their vibrant & vivid colours. I really want people to enjoy my art work as much as I do creating them. It is through my art that I get my true confidence and I can shout louder than I have ever been able to before! Stephanie Mackenzie
Award Winning Canadian-born Artist Stephanie Mackenzie is a vibrant up and coming new talent of the 21st century. Her sophisticated style is inspired by Pop Art and Surrealism but she is speaking through her own voice. “The style of my pieces is photography twisted with my imagination into a digital Art form” she explains. “My goal is to make them look as if they are coming to life in different dimensions”.
While looking at Mackenzie’s work, we are confronted with multiple layers and a rainbow of brash colours, featuring Men & Women, intricate design & textures, which is only the tip of the ice berg in which each piece is constructed. The process of creating each piece is complex. Models, costumes, lighting, set & story boards are important in the early stages of building the idea. Mackenzie will then use Adobe Photoshop to put the idea to life and create a contrast of dimensionality. With three suitcases and her camera by her side, Mackenzie got a one way ticket from Toronto to the largest hot spot for Art. Now residing in Paris France, Ms. Mackenzie is working internationally. Her award winning photography has been published & displayed in galleries in New York, Paris & London UK. Website: Deka Photography www.dekafoto.net |
Niki Bedford
I was born and live in Cardiff, however I spent my childhood in Bahrain during the 1960's when most of the island was just desert - unsophisticated and sparsely populated.
I am attracted to objects which are weathered and show signs of wear and tear, erosion and history. I think this may be a subliminal reaction to my childhood in Bahrain where most everything eventually cracked, weathered and faded in the constant heat, sun, humidity and sand storms. My work is mainly using hand made paper on canvas which I tear, scorch, layer and pin, creating rough edges and depth representing weathering and natural decay. I have recently been working on a series of paintings of sailing boats in neutral tones, sand and plaster which give them a ghostly ethereal feeling. As a ceramic artist I am concerned with producing beautiful form, decoration which is an intrinsic part and “at one” with the form, and flawless shell-like surfaces.
I started my working life as a precision engineer, later graduating to industrial designer and it is this background which has given me the love of producing finely finished work. My working method as a ceramic artist is that I only work when I feel good about it, and have done a lot of experimentation with form & decoration to achieve the results I now get. I have a B.A. Ceramics degree from The Anglia Ruskin University and won 3D awards at the Beecroft Gallery, Westcliff on Sea. The Beecroft Art Gallery, Westcliffe on Sea, have purchased 2 of my pieces for their permanent collection I have exhibited at galleries in Llandudno and Conway, (North Wales); Maldon; Ingatestone; Chelmsford; Westcliff, and Anglia Ruskin University (Chelmsford). Influences include Lucie Rie; Alison Britton; spiral forms found in nature; smooth mat surfaces as in some plastics; eggshells; and fruit. |
Leah Michellé
Leah Michellé's paintings seek to capture the abstract form of human emotions through mixed media and acrylic paint, specifically the feelings of contentment and happiness. Her technique of layering multiple coats of paint, paper and polyurethane on the surface of the canvas focuses on finding comfort in the visual relationship between the sensuality of form and the beauty of colour. The combination of vibrant warm colours with golds and beautiful patterns, and sometimes human forms, aims to stimulate an intimate feeling of happiness and contentment that only a product of beauty can initiate within the viewers. Predominately inspired by the Abstract Expressionists Mark Rothko and Hans Hoffman, Leah's paintings combine the intricacy of Modernism with the impulsiveness of Abstract Expressionism creating a contemporary genre of abstract painting that seeks to begin a dialogue of how viewers emotionally react to the relationships between colour and form.

I used to hoard things as a child. I was a magpie. Anything I could get my hands on I did. They usually found a place underneath my bed or behind the curtains; until my parents caught on and confiscated whatever treasures I had collected.
I exchanged nicking things for collecting things I find, out and about on the streets of whichever city I happen to be in, keeping every note and scrap of paper anyone has ever given me. Antique stores and markets are a favourite hang out of mine, any old postcards or photos I snap up and keep hidden in my drawers, scattered around my studio/bedroom. My inspiration is a collection of saved dialogue in the form of old postcards, old letters and a hoard of handwritten notes, scraps of paper and saved memorabilia, which I sometimes incorporate in to my current work. I never like to physically incorporate them; they should be left as they are. Although. I have been using old photographs and text playing around with photocopying and incorporating different medium like charcoal and pencil, in a repetitive nature. This work is about repetitiveness and structure. I usually make the photocopies in groups of three but sometimes they end up as a whole book of repeated prints or patterns. I like to keep them simple. Not too many layers or mediums, very basic, very clean. Website www.postdarling.com |
Charmaine Lenisa
Born in 1971 Capetown (South Africa) I lived in London and recently moved to Belgium. I spent part of my childhood in Canada and moved to Holland at the age of ten.
I began drawing in my early youth, such as illustrating for the school paper and drawing comics. When I was 18 years old, I began working with oil paint I soon became interested in Surrealism and Metaphysical art. With a flair for art and fashion, I studied fashion-illustration and got my diploma in 1994. This study taught me amongst other things, about anatomy and I became interested in painting nudes. Mainly autodidact I have also had lessons from a well known Metaphysical artist in Holland, Frans Erkelens. Surrealism still inspires a lot of my work. My work is a mixture of fantasy and realism where often mysterious figures melt between dreams and reality. I mainly use acrylics and or oils to express myself. Aiste Gureviciute
I am a 27 year old artist from Lithuania. I started to draw since my hand was able to grasp a pencil. I have been in UK for 8 years now and I continue expanding my skills as the creative world will always have the best of my curiosity. I have tried Decoupage, which brought my curiosity to painting on furniture and walls (murals). I have a great passion for product and furniture design, I love 'outside of the box' thinking and coming up with new, unseen ideas, which applies to my recent drawings/paintings as well. What I love about painting is the use of a mixture of materials and styles on the same canvas. With paintings we create energy which is transferred to a viewer, so for me it is very important to create a positive energy with every single piece of art I produce. This energy depends on color, sharpness of lines, intensity etc. My recent drawings are abstract. I have visualized dreams, as I think dreaming is most important factor in life and we are creating our destiny by dreaming about our future, so this subject always had my interest. Up until recently my art work was dedicated to family and friends. It was the greatest gift I could offer, but as I got better at creating something positive and original with each piece I had a desire to share it with more people, to spread the dreamy, positive energy, even if it reaches the viewer through a small glance. So now I am laying the path for my work to be seen by many, and I really hope it will bring at least a tiny amount of magic into someone's world.

Sally Faure
I used to paint portraits of the people I was representing, articulating between legal knowledge and my rhetorical figures. After leaving Paris and the Judiciary world, I have been able to reopen on a daily basis the dusty chapter of painting.
Painting from memory provides me with complete fulfillment, probably because I feel like I am releasing the People, the Elements, so that they express freely without any sort of formalism or membership. I am often told that I paint the way a photographer would use his camera, it probably has to do with my childhood years of devouring Adventure Novels and National Geographic! This endless search of those faces and elements, not only went through Travelling but Painting. Oil paint is my favourite medium as it expresses all the diversity nature can offer as well as it saves the surprises of unexpected detours. It has as well the capacity of evolving with full autonomy and independence without any motive. That is the path I intend to explore at the moment along with the endless quest of the Light! Spencer Mitchell
Spencer Mitchell was born and raised
in the English county of Northamptonshire. Exposed from an early age
to a fascinating and defining juxtaposition of the industrial landscape
and the rural countryside surrounding him; Spencer began to view the
world through the lens of a camera.
For him, every photograph is a journey in perception, an exploration in seeing, “I want to record all those everyday things that people just pass by” With no control over weather, light or geography a photographer must study the subject/landscape and place himself in the most unique position as to arrange all the variables in what will become an interesting composition. Spencer captures with his camera, the most everyday and often overlooked subject, he challenges the viewer to see through his eyes, where the mundane and ordinary become something incredibly beautiful. Elsie Bell
Elsie Bell, based in Kent, England, is a digital mixed media artist. Her
portfolio shows and eclectic body of work as she applies the new skills she
learns throughout her artistic journey. With a passion for photography most work
starts out with something that has caught her eye on one of her many jaunts
around the UK and abroad.
Blending reality with fantasy Elsie loves to experiment with colour and texture. The pictures that will be exhibited at NAF February 2012 are part of a series I’m building up. It focuses on Great Britons/Great Britain: At work, at play and the architecture. Website: www.elsiebell.co.uk |

My photographic images are the result of a fascination with repetitive patterns in nature. Often my images are abstractions derived from reflections on water or glass. Photography coincides with my other interests: Sculling, fly-fishing, and wildlife. These activities provide opportunities to be on or near water and beautiful parts of the planet. Most of my photos are taken where I spend as much time as possible: the Rocky Mountain streams and rivers of Colorado, the lakes of Texas, and the reefs and salt flats of the Caribbean. |
Mark Powell
Since graduating from Huddersfield University, in which I accidentally
enrolled onto the fine art course, I have had shows across the UK and
the US with more showcasing my paintings in the near future.
My practice centers around my drawing and painting of whatever slips into my mind at any particular time and so may seem abstract and unrelated, though this is never the case. Website http://markpowellart.tumblr.com/ |
Alan Griffiths
I
started my creative career in the early 80’s playing synthesizers and
any other instrument available to me, on most Sundays I would be at
speakers corner, taping the speakers views and then later putting them
to an industrial soundtrack. By the mid 80’s I was a freelance
photographer, photographing bands for publicity shots and working on
album covers. I also started experimenting with photography using
different materials, it was these early experimentations that would
become a driving force later in life. My work is a photographic image, transparent in places, printed on to a
sheet of aluminum 75 x 110 cm and 3 mm thick - this is hung by a
floating frame. The
metal work goes under the heading; “The slow decay, trapped energy and
the realism of paint against time”, concentrating on the elements and
how they interact with man made objects, the slow decay of metal into
rust and the paint that begins to peel with age. There is no escaping
the elements. With this process an emergence of new colours and pattens
arises. From these areas of decay is a new form of beauty. The textures
and colours of rust and peeling paint and the form of natural pattens
occurring.

is a figurative artist trained at Camberwell College of Art and
Lavender Hill studios in traditional painting and drawing techniques in
the atelier technique.
His primary interests are interiors and portraiture. Much of his work mixes collage, drawing and traditional painting techniques, where, on a canvas of carefully selected magazine images he applies acrylic, inks and coloured pencils to produce rich, tonal images. Many of his spiced image collages, partly inspired by John Stezaker's surreal images, will also be on display. These apply a surreal or political treatment to interior or architectural themes. Art has become an important part of my life. It gives me an opportunity to implement my creative skills, to express myself, to apply my imagination, my emotions, my view, my inner world to something tangible – a piece of art. It is the way of providing my message to the external world. I actively participate in exhibitions and competitions on a local level. And I hope this exhibition will be a step forward to my further development in art career. Contact: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Esmira-Gulahmedova |

My work is sometimes beautiful, sometimes slightly disturbing, but always striking. I studied Fine art at Sunderland University, graduating in 1992 , but only started painting seriously again in March last year, following redundancy after 16 years in music retail. I exhibited at the Art in Mind , Brick Lane Gallery in November and recieved positive feedback. Website: http://matthewchapman.deviantart.com/ |
Giusi Tomasello
I studied in Art School and finished my MA in Industrial Design in Milan. Times were changing and my passion for new ideas and the excitement coming from the north took my path to London where I moved in 2004. Since then I experienced working as an artwork and graphic designer for fashion luxury label based in Milan, London and Paris. These opportunities allowed me to work using different media and techniques from collage, to digital generated images and painting end sewing. Soon I realized the creative limits of briefs and trends so I started my own work using mixed media, inspired also by my roots. This will be my first exhibition. |
Simon Kirk
I am interested in ambiguous, subjective ‘hidden’ narratives where the 'story' remains oblique or partial, ambiguous and undeclared. The work is multidirectional and open ended. Meaning is inherent but impossible to pin down precisely. Website: www.simon-kirk.co.uk Facebook page: www.facebook.com/simonkirkfineart |
Pamela Manson
The inspiration for her work comes from the dramatic scenery of the Mournes Co. Down and South West Donegal. She works mainly in oils on canvas and is inspired by the bog lands of both areas which, to her, are quintessentially Irish. She has exhibited her work in Northern Ireland, Dublin, and had a successful one woman show in Donegal in 2011. Her work is in private collections in Dubai, South Africa, Switzerland and USA. Pamela is an Associate Member of the Art Society of Ulster. Website: www.pamelagmanson.com |
Alexa Aulds
I am a self-taught artist born in Bristol and living in London. Travel and the study of languages have largely contributed to my inspiration from other cultures. Most of my work is painted using acrylic on canvas board and often incorporates metallic leaf and inks.
The beauty of the human body takes central role in many of my paintings, largely inspired by the decadence of the 1920s and the smells, textures, colours and sounds of nature, all the senses that evoke emotion from the abyss of the human soul. I am currently working on a new series of paintings incorporating the Latin phrase "memento mori" with the purpose of reminding people of their mortality, an artistic theme dating back to antiquity.
