Jenny Jones

Recent shows have included Dulwich Open Houses and a solo installation
at the ASC windowspace gallery. These paintings are on the one hand,
an investigation into shamanic experience and an exploration of
mystical, New Age kitsch, whilst on the other, an exploration of the
associations of recognisable yet polyvalent signs from the everyday.
These include images & text from banknotes, tabloid headlines &
collaged female celebrities from gossip magazines. The paintings work
across the so-called divide between the mystical and the everyday.
However, these be seen to collide from a transpersonal worldview.
Coincidences in everyday life can be synchronistically related to the
unfolding of a painting. Perceptions of “internal” and “external”
reality may be seen as linked.
