Briony’s work since University stems from a long fascination with the cityscape. While at studying in Leicester she got the chance to visit New York. Inspired by the unique skyline, culture and aesthetic details, the visit fed new ideas and endless possibilities on how to interpret the city scene. Now based near Gatwick airport Briony continues to explore cityscapes, regularly visiting Brighton and London to work on her artistic understanding, development and sense of realism with the space.
Her recent work documents the Capital with a combination of mixed media drawings and paintings.
Working over a period of time, influences such as; mood, people and weather are documented as well as events and the presence of history and culture. Mixed mediums and collage including found objects such as newspapers create a base and connection to the city’s growth and people within the space. The images allow the viewer to question, to explore, to put their own mark on its narrative.
